My son has wide feet with a fairly narrow heel and a higher instep, so finding suitable shoes can be a real challenge. RAYVE SLIPPERS caught our eye for several reasons – they were the only shoes we tried that were wide enough in the toe box, while still offering the option to adjust the instep individually. We tested them during a visit to Grandma’s and on a normal day at nursery, where they’re used as indoor shoes.
RAYVE SLIPPERS are low-cut, lightweight slippers designed primarily for indoor use – at home, nursery or school. The sole is thin, only 3 mm thick, made from ABS rubber, and together with the overall construction of the shoe it is very flexible. You notice this most when your child is playing on the floor: the slipper naturally bends where the toes bend, so there’s no need to turn the toe outwards or otherwise “fight” the shoe. That’s exactly what’s key in children’s footwear – the foot stays protected, while still having plenty of freedom for movement and natural development.
The fit is designed for medium to wider feet, which in our case turned out to be a big advantage. My son has wide feet, a fairly narrow heel and a higher instep – a combination that usually makes choosing the right shoe tricky. With RAYVE SLIPPERS, though, it wasn’t a problem: the toe box is anatomically shaped and leaves plenty of room for the toes, while the Velcro strap can be tightened or loosened individually, so even with a higher instep the slippers stay on well and don’t pinch anywhere.
We’re also happy with the materials. The textile upper feels durable and even after repeated wear it shows no signs of wear and tear. Inside there’s a textile lining and a removable insole, which makes the slippers easy to keep clean – you can take the insole out at any time to air it or wipe it down, which I really appreciate with children’s shoes.
Another big plus is the genuinely wide choice of colours and patterns – you’ll find RAYVE SLIPPERS in designs such as unicorns, lorries, kittens, or dinosaurs and diggers, which is what my son tested. That way, your child can choose their own slippers based on what they’re into at the moment, and changing into indoor shoes at nursery can easily become a little more pleasant. My son chose for himself, and you could tell he was genuinely delighted to pick his own design.
We tested RAYVE SLIPPERS at nursery and at Grandma’s – exactly the environments they’re designed for. At nursery, my son wore them as indoor shoes throughout the day – playing on the carpet, sitting on the floor and running around the classroom. Thanks to the flexible sole and stretchy material, he had no trouble sitting down or squatting by his building blocks without the shoe restricting his movement in any way. At Grandma’s, they worked as comfortable house shoes for the whole afternoon, as he switched between playing on the floor, walking around the flat and sitting at the table. In both places, I appreciated how quick and easy they were to put on and take off. Throughout the testing, the slippers handled normal all-day wear with no issues – nothing rubbed and nothing came loose.
What impressed us most about RAYVE SLIPPERS was their flexibility, anatomical shape and overall build quality. We’d recommend them especially for children with wider feet, a narrower heel and a higher instep – exactly the foot type we were dealing with in our own test, and the one that RAYVE SLIPPERS handled best out of everything we’ve tried so far.
