Podcast naBOSo Walking, Movement and Health Children Barefoot
How do you know when an insole actually makes sense? Are they suitable for barefoot shoes too? And why no aid works on its own without movement.
In today’s episode of the naBOSo mluVÍ podcast, we welcome back one of our very first guests – physiotherapist and podologist Bc. Edita Prošková. Together, we open up a topic that divides parents, patients and professionals alike: custom insoles, flat feet, barefoot footwear and supportive aids.
Are orthopaedic insoles really the answer to pain? What’s the difference between an off-the-shelf insole from the chemist and an individually adjusted insole? And do insoles even belong in barefoot shoes?
In her practice in Roudnice nad Labem, Edita works with children and adults dealing with flat feet, bunions, heel pain, ankle valgus or issues stemming from poor foot function. In the interview, she explains that the goal of an insole isn’t to ‘create an arch’, but to improve foot dynamics and relieve overloaded structures. Often, it may be a temporary aid rather than a lifelong solution.
There’s also a practical section – we talk about adapting to insoles, possible temporary aches, how to spot a poorly made insole, and tools for home care: balls, alignment socks and toe correctors.
This episode is for parents, athletes and anyone dealing with foot pain or wondering whether it’s worth investing in custom insoles.
