Description and parameters

Insulated barefoot wellies for your child, with a fleece lining, a drawstring collar that keeps snow out and a wide toe box with room for toes to grow.

RAYVE Monsoon Cover Winter are the winter version of the Monsoon Cover wellies. They have the same cut and sole, plus a fleece collar with a drawstring and a fleece lining over the full height of the boot. The collar tightens around your child's calf, so snow doesn't get in while they play in a snowdrift.

The lightweight, flexible construction supports natural foot movement, and the anatomical shape leaves room for toes to spread. The pink is muted, a dusty rose, with a beige collar and a caramel sole. They suit nursery, the playground and the woods, winter puddles and snow.

Fit

  • suits wide to medium feet
  • anatomically shaped toe box
  • suitable for a dominant big toe
  • suits a medium heel
  • suitable for a low to medium instep

Features

  • fleece collar with a drawstring - keeps warmth in and stops snow getting in from above
  • fleece lining over the full height, not just at the ankle
  • the insole is stitched in and cannot be removed
  • upper and sole made from one piece of rubber, so there is nothing to come unstuck
  • zero drop (heel and toe on the same level)
  • plenty of space for toes
  • suitable for rain, mud and snow

How to choose the right size

Measure your child's foot and add 9 to 12 mm of extra room. For winter boots we recommend going towards the upper end, as thicker socks are worn and you cannot add your own wool insole here.

We measured the dimensions below ourselves on the actual boot. They are not converted from the manufacturer's chart.

Material

Durable materials for bad weather that keep little feet dry and warm.

  • upper: PER-lite synthetic rubber, fleece collar with a drawstring
  • lining: fleece over the full height of the boot
  • sole: PER-lite rubber
  • insole: stitched in, not removable

How to care for the shoes

  • always brush off coarse dirt first
  • wipe the boots with a damp cloth
  • do not machine wash them or dry them directly on heat sources, as the stitched-in fleece insole dries slowly and overheated rubber warps
  • with proper care your barefoot shoes will last a long time

What might you want to know about RAYVE Monsoon Cover Winter?

  1. Are they warm enough for January?
For a typical British January, yes. Not for standing outside all day in frost, as they are fleece-insulated wellies, not winter boots with a waterproof membrane. For the nursery run, building a snowman and puddles after an afternoon thaw, they are just right.
  2. Do they really keep snow and water out from above?
Yes, the collar tightens with a drawstring around the calf and seals. When it is warmer, it can be folded over the edge of the boot, making the welly a little lower.
  3. Can the insole be removed and dried separately?
No. Unlike the uninsulated Monsoon Cover range, the insole here is stitched to the base. The boots dry as a whole, stood next to a heater, not on it.
  4. Are they suitable for wider feet too?
Yes. In size 28 the internal width is 80 mm, which fits a child's foot with a terry sock and still leaves toes able to spread.
  5. How do you choose the right size for winter?
Measure your child's foot in the evening, when it is largest, and add 9 to 12 mm. We do not recommend more than 15 mm of extra room, as in a welly where the foot slides around your child may rub their heel.
  6. Can they be machine washed?
No. The rubber would survive, but the stitched-in fleece insole gets soaked in the drum and then takes several days to dry.
