ANGLES Orpheus Winter Zip 2.0 barefoot ankle boots are the insulated winter version of the Orpheus, with a minimalist silhouette that sits just above the ankle. The upper is made from premium smooth bovine leather, the laces hold the boot securely on your foot and the side zip makes them quick to put on.

Inside, the lining and insole are made from a blend of sheep and synthetic wool with 2 mm of memory foam, while the thin 3 mm natural rubber sole sits underneath. These versatile unisex boots are made for everyday winter wear around town.

The WINTER ZIP 2.0 has a lining and insole made from a blend of sheep and synthetic wool and is designed for winter. The AUTUMN ZIP is a transitional version with a microfibre lining for spring and autumn.
What is the side zip for?
You do not have to unlace the boots every time. Simply open the zip and slip them on.
Which size should I choose when the boots are insulated?
The wool insulation takes up a little space inside the boot. For winter models, the manufacturer states a difference of roughly 5 mm, so we recommend allowing around 10 mm of extra room.

Honest shoemaking

In 2016, one of the few classic Czech barefoot brands was born near Zlín. With an unconventionally English-sounding name: Angles.

Six years later, production moved near Porto in Portugal in search of even higher quality. The region’s shoemaking tradition is similar to Zlín’s, except that the local factories have been innovating their production technologies for many years and building close relationships with their material suppliers.

Honest shoemaking and the gentle care of human hands on every shoe remain, however.

Angles shoes are strictly free of heels, arched insoles, thick soles and supports that restrict the movement of the toes in any direction. They are exceptionally light and let your legs and feet work without restriction. Just as is natural for the feet.

Angles are hand-sewn barefoot shoes that mimic walking barefoot. They are light and flexible, with a roomy toe box, no heels or shaped insoles – exactly the shoes your feet have been dreaming of.

Tested on humans

From the very beginning we wanted to design barefoot shoes that fit our feet perfectly. That is why the development of the first model was preceded by thorough research in cooperation with Tomas Bata University in Zlín.

Hundreds of hours of 3D scanning of exactly 1056 pairs of feet became the basis for the first shoe last, made in 2016. And so the Angles flagship model was born – Socrates. In Portugal it was refined into the model Chronos.

Angles models are divine not only in name. You can slip your feet into unique minimalist ballet flats, comfortable leather trainers, ankle and Chelsea boots, as well as elegant lace-ups for every occasion.

You do not have to give up some models even in winter, as we have added warm faux fur, a membrane and a winter insole. Interestingly, we make the shoes in two widths – in sizes 37 to 42 for narrower feet and 41+ to 46+ for wider feet.

Materials & production

Developing each new model takes roughly six months to a year, during which the shoes are cut, assembled and sewn by hand while being fine-tuned to perfection millimetre by millimetre. The lasts reflect the real angles and characteristics of human feet. The sole is specially designed to achieve the optimum balance of strength and flexibility. It combines pliability with long durability. The same goes for the upper, which withstands demanding elasticity and flexibility tests. Thanks to the unique properties of the leather / upper material, the shoes are practically indestructible. You will walk thousands of steps in them. Literally.

The most important piece that holds the whole barefoot puzzle together is the human touch. It accompanies each shoe from choosing the right leather to the final caress when it is packed into the box. Countless hours of honest handwork and the finest materials make Angles truly divine.
